Namaste It is said that musicians generally have a great sense of humour. Maharajapuram apparently had it in abudance. It is said that, once towards the end of a concert while he was facilitated, the organiser appealed: " Annaa, neenga inga adikkadi varumbadi amaiyanum..." Santanam quipped, " Aha, varumbadi irundha varumbadi irukkum!" playing on the word varumbadi[which could mean income also!] Here is another one... It is an open secret that that few main artistes honour their sidemen[pakka vaadhyam] with adequate compensation..[that's how it was at least in the past] A prominent main artiste, known for his miserliness, was once discussing with his side-men: " I have managed to construct a new house ...Can u suggest a good name for it.." The ghatam vidwan who was a regular in his concerts [ and one who received very little] is said to have whispered to his other friends : " That house was built by the money that's substantially ours - he gave us very little, thus saving so much to build that house - paysaamaa andha veettukku "pakkavaadhya bhavanam"-nnu paer vekkalaam!" ;D Endrendrum Anbudan, R.Sankara Prasad.

Semmangudi Srinivas Iyer was said to have a great sense of humour. In the middle of an alapana of Shankarabharanam, a baby started crying and Semmangudi replicated that in Shankarabharanam.
