There are many interesting kritis composed by Sanskrit scholar Shathavadhani Dr.Ganesh composed in Sanskrit Telugu & Kannada. They are interesting. Every composition has its own identity in terms of lyrical beauty & melody. He has penned many Kritis, tillanas , Ragamalikas & hundreds of padams in Kannada & Telugu. He is the winner of Veda Vyas sanman puraskar from Govt of India for outstanding comtribution to Sanskrit literature. He is known in erudite circles very much DR.Nagavalli

Dr.Padma subramanyam's student Mrs.Sundari Santhanam is the best exponent of his Tillanas. She has performed many times. Many of the dancers in India are performing his ragamaalikas & tillanas. Cine actor Sridhar is also performing his famous Mahabharata raaga maaalika as the main item in his performances. Mahaabharata raaga maalika is in line with Bhavayaami raghuramam.

Now he is the winner of Vedavyas award also for his outstanding contribution to thre field of Sanskrit literature instituted by Government of India & presented by President of India Shortly he is going take over charge as President of a company which broadcasts 24 hour sanskrit in F.M radio

In this Kriti madhyama kala sahitya with rich verbal melody & rhythmic beauty (chaturashra being shifted to thrishra) are brilliantly seen. We can find imaginative sangatis in Pallavi & Anupallavi

Usually, the literal meaning of Sanskrit cannot be put into English for, the syntax & connotations differ. Apart from that the rich verbal treasure house of Sanskrit yielding to lot of puns & alliterations, which are also due to its grammatical peculiaities & linguistic neuances have compelled me to give a brief import only for the above Kriti.

Good wishes every body. I am quite familiar with Shatavadhani Ganesh's Kritis The meaning for the Raga malika Ganga lahari posted by Dr.Nagavalli is as follows. Oh Ganga with wavy billows always connected with the lofty & with what is auspicious, the mercy incarnate of the feet of Hari, one who chose to reside in Shiva's locks, protector of the worlds of Gods, Humans & demons (svarga, Bhoomi & Patala), the destoyer of sins, lusturous like a lamp. pillar of the knowledge of Atman. The first portion in Raga valachi set to Khanda nade is appropriate as it depicts the swft movement of Ganga as she descends down the mountain Himalaya. The second portion which is in raga dvijavanti set to Chaturashra is apt as it depicts the flow of Ganges in the plains. The meaning of it is as follows O alakanamda who gladdens the residents of Alakapuri, supporter of flora(kanda), O mandakini of Gorgeous & slow flowing waters, of pure waters, free from sins, the daughter of Bhagiratha, protector of holy places such as Kashi, soft by nature, adept in the art of pulling out the thorn of sorrow stuck to the heart of her devotees & the prosperity of the land of Bharata. There are hardly a few kritis on Ganga. The present kriti is full of lryical & musical beauties.

Find one more intersting vilambagati kriti of Dr.Shatavadhani Dr.Ganesh. It is set in raga sudhasimdhu. Aslight alteration on svaras of sindhu bhairavi is this melodious invention. I being a psychiatrist I have tried music therapy with many of my patients. This particular kriti in raga Sudhasinhu calms soothens my aggrevated patients because of its melody & lyrical beauty.
