My Petite Parrot, My Bountiful Treasure My Wholesome Happiness, You came to create progress in this world
My Child-like, fruit dipped nectar, my speaking golden portrait You come before me so gracefully that I feel like hugging you with passion
When you come running towards me, my heart chills When I see you dancing with merriness, my soul hugs you
When you kiss my forehead, I feel strongly proud If I hear someone praise you with sincerety, my skin tingles with excitement
if I kiss you on your cheeks, my heart goes beserk as if it is drunk with liquor If I hug you with passion, I feel a blissful happiness
If you blush momentarily, my heart is disturbed When I see your forehead wrinkle, my heart flutters...
If I even see small droplets of tears in your eyes, a whole river of blood flows in my heart (because) You're the girl of my eyes, my life is yours
In your child-like speaking, you'll cure all my worries/misery In your innocent white smile, you'll cure me of my ignorance
Can you even be described in pages and pages of Happy stories? In sharing Love, can even a God equal you?
To wear on the chest, is there even diamonds/pearls like you? i.e. can even diamonds/pearls adore my chest, like you adore mine? Is there even a larger treasure than you in my life? i.e. You're the most prosperous treasure in my life.
Hi, I would like to point out a mistake, in the translation of a stanza of "Chinnanchiru Kiliye Kannamma" . What is posted in the forum is pasted below:
ennaik-kali tIrttE ulagil Etram puriya vandAi
Ennaik - For me kali - Happiness tIrttE - (Could be wholesome) ulagil - In the World Etram - Progress / forward puriya - do / doing vandai - came
My Wholesome Happiness, You came to create progress in this world
UNQUOTE: The lyrics are: "Ennai kali theerthe ulagil Yetram puriya vandhai".
Ennai - me or mine KALI - Miseries or trials Theerthe - destroy ulagil - in this world Yetram puriya - get me all the pride, place me on the Peak vandhai - you came
So to say, "You came to me to destroy all my miseries and get me all the pride - place me on the Peak of my pride" You may note the word Kali means exactly opposite to what is posted (miseries x happiness).
Those who can read Tamil can read the following:
"என்னைக் கலி தீர்த்தே உலகில் ஏற்றம் புரிய வந்தாய்"
பொருள்: எனது துன்பங்களையெல்லாம் ஒழித்து எனக்கு ஏற்றங்களை (பெருமைகளை)அருள வந்தாய்.
I may please not be mistaken for pointing out this.

This incomparably beautiful song is the ultimate expression of a father's love his daughter, not quite so much as one's love for one's beloved. Please try looking at the lyrics once again in this light, and every syllable rings true! In his writings, Bharathiyar poured out his devotion for krishna in many ways - imagining him as his son, daughter, master, servant, guru, love - every conceivable relationship. It makes for some of the most beautiful prose in Tamil.
