Hi, I would like to point out a mistake, in the translation of a stanza of "Chinnanchiru Kiliye Kannamma" . What is posted in the forum is pasted below:
QUOTE:
ennaik-kali tIrttE ulagil Etram puriya vandAi
Ennaik - For me kali - Happiness tIrttE - (Could be wholesome) ulagil - In the World Etram - Progress / forward puriya - do / doing vandai - came
My Wholesome Happiness, You came to create progress in this world
UNQUOTE: The lyrics are: "Ennai kali theerthe ulagil Yetram puriya vandhai".
Ennai - me or mine KALI - Miseries or trials Theerthe - destroy ulagil - in this world Yetram puriya - get me all the pride, place me on the Peak vandhai - you came
So to say, "You came to me to destroy all my miseries and get me all the pride - place me on the Peak of my pride" You may note the word Kali means exactly opposite to what is posted (miseries x happiness).
Those who can read Tamil can read the following:
"என்னைக் கலி தீர்த்தே உலகில் ஏற்றம் புரிய வந்தாய்"
பொருள்: எனது துன்பங்களையெல்லாம& #3021; ஒழித்து எனக்கு ஏற்றங்களை (பெருமைகளை)அருள வந்தாய்.
I may please not be mistaken for pointing out this.

This incomparably beautiful song is the ultimate expression of a father's love his daughter, not quite so much as one's love for one's beloved. Please try looking at the lyrics once again in this light, and every syllable rings true! In his writings, Bharathiyar poured out his devotion for krishna in many ways - imagining him as his son, daughter, master, servant, guru, love - every conceivable relationship. It makes for some of the most beautiful prose in Tamil.
